My Story
My
Story…
Francis Vaughn
Virtual Assistant (V. A.)
I am the proud wife of Eric Vaughn, Sr. and the mother of Jerald, Feryn, Mary, Eliana and Eric Jr. I am a lifelong learner, community-oriented servant leader, and devout follower of Jesus Christ.
When I got married in October 1994, I had just graduated from college with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology/Pre-Med. My original plans were to attend medical school but several life events led to a different route. I now believe God saved me from a career that would not have been suitable for me. Even though being a physician would have afforded me a different lifestyle than what I have had, I do not believe I would have enjoyed working in the medical field.
As a young adult, I always had the mentality of an employee. I always knew I would do the best job I could for someone else, and that is just what I did. Because of my work ethic, I never really had to search for jobs. I was almost always hired because someone recommended me for the job.
Then I married Eric Vaughn, who had the mentality of an entrepreneur/owner. He was born a visionary, pioneer, and trendsetter. When he asked me to marry him, he had already started a company called Choice Marketing with one of his friends. In fact, his business card for that business really impressed me when we were reunited after a few years apart. Back then, not everyone had business cards.
The first event we planned together was the 2nd Annual Tharnell Hollins All-Star Game honoring a Fort Wayne, Indiana sports legend. Then we started a monthly Christian newspaper called “The Second Coming”. We later changed the name to “The Spiritual Newsletter.” That was just the beginning of our business ventures. We started a home day care business called Nanny’s Home Day Care and a nonprofit organization called Quest for the Best Sports Ministries in 1997….and there were more.
Through working with Eric in those early years of our marriage, my dominant skills started to surface and were sharpened with each event, business venture, etc. Eric believed that I could do anything, so I tried…and usually succeeded. We did not have very much money, so we had to “figure things out.” We have always been able to do impressive things on small budgets.
Eric was “born” an entrepreneur, but he had to help me “become” an entrepreneur. He was my first business mentor, providing many opportunities for on-the-job training. I was pleased to honor Eric by launching my business on the same day we celebrated his birth: July 4th, 2015.
As a busy family manager with over 20 years of experience, I know firsthand what it is like juggling myriad responsibilities. I want to provide hope and a helping hand for entrepreneurs so they can be more productive in their homes and businesses.
